Kinkaku-ji

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Beware.. many gratuitous shots of the same building to come.

Kinkaku-ji is in Kyoto, about an hour away from Kyoto station on a little bus. It is a Buddhist temple coated in gold leaf which makes for an extraordinary sight.

It was a perfect winter's day: very cold but with a beautiful blue sky.

There was even snow resting on the top of the building: the side hiding from the sunlight.

Just look at that! Resting in amongst the lake. It was really incredible. Walking through the grounds was completely relaxing. I love the reflection of the temple in the water.

Ringing the bell for good luck...

We also visited Ryoan-ji which is famous for its zen garden. Magically, it started to snow when we were viewing the garden. The camera couldn't pick up the snow, but it was a phenomenal moment and made it even more peaceful.

Kyoto... your beauty was amazing today!
