Iriomote Island

After Ishigaki, we headed to Iriomote Island. 90% of the island is jungle and swamps, and Iriomote is also home to the largest river in Okinawa. With terrible weather, again, we took a boat trip on Urauchi river and hiked through the jungle!

The point where the hike began! As you can see, we wore basically the same clothes everyday haha. We weren't prepared for the bad weather so the majority of our suitcase was unwearable! But thanks SJ for the hat-band thingy ;). That came in handy!

Having a great time walking through the green jungle and spying lots of little waterfalls.

Then, at the end of the hike we find this massive waterfall!

Jonny bravely went off exploring, but it was so slippery I fell over! It was a fantastic trip though and it was cute to see families with their mini kids doing the same walk. If you decide to hike anywhere else in the island you have to inform the police of your plans because it is so dangerous and unchartered. The habu snake may get you!

  1. The 'hat-band thingy' looks great - you rock it, of course.
And the hike looks like great fun in spite of the weather - did you get other people to take the pics of both of you?
