On a recent trip to Kyoto I underwent a transformation... I became a maiko, an apprentice geisha.
It was a great opportunity! It tooka really long time for the staff to put on the make-up, kimono and wig, but it was great to try to imagine what it really would have been like back in the day. The package I selected took some studio shots too, but these are the pictures we took in my free time on my own computer.
I loved it, but felt very strange. I think the make-up is definitely more suited to a Japanese face... I'll stick to my normal look I think!! It's definitely worth a try if you're in Kyoto!
