Nagoya

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our hiking trip to Kumano Kodo (for the second time!) because of the typhoon. But, we made the most of this free weekend and booked a cheap trip to Nagoya! To check out the city and two castles.

First of all, we visited the incredible Nagoya castle. It kind of looks like Osaka castle, but the grounds at Osaka castle are a lot more impressive.

We then visited a second castle a little outside of town, Inuyama Castle. This is often claimed as the oldest castle in Japan!

We had to walk through some red gates to get there..

But it was a beautiful little castle! It was really authentic, and we had to walk up some incredibly steep steps to get to the top.

"Hi! I'm in Japan!"

The only picture of the two of us!

The castle was protected by the river surrounding it.

We spent the evening exploring the more 'modern' side of Nagoya. However, this TV tower was built in the 50s...

Apparently it was even destroyed by Godzilla! It's interesting to see architecture that was considered super cool at that time.

The next day, we visited Atsuta Shrine. And, we saw lots of cuties in Kimono!!

And cars being blessed!

A lovely little break exploring a new city.
