Awaji Island

We've been so busy lately! I've been really slow with blogging. A few weeks ago we went to Awaji Island to relax. It's a small island in Hyogo prefecture, about 2 hours away from Osaka. A perfect getaway!

When we arrived we saw the teeny tiny Sumoto castle above us. And headed straight to our hotel...

We spent our weekend relaxing by the outdoor pool in a gorgeous cabana - reading our books, swimming, relaxing. It was great, and something we don't often do. Our trips are always go-go-go!

We overlooked the harbour, with Jonny loved. We miss Gavin's boat!

There are a group of lovely hotels on the island. Staying in one entitles you to use the facilities of the other group hotels. Our hotel's pool was by far the best, but we visited another too.

Where Jonny tried his hand at fishing!

Awaji is also famous for it's onsen. The onsen at Hotel New Awaji are particularly famous - and I think they might be the best onsen I've visited. You sit soaking in the hot water, overlooking the ocean. Jonny's onsen was empty so he managed to take some cheeky photos..

The perfect weekend relaxation and we were lucky to catch the last of the summer weather. We also got to eat famous Awaji beef, and Awaji onions. Yummy! We are turning Japanese and bought a huge box of onions to take home with us...

I loved Awaji!
