Climbing Mount Rokko

Jonny and I have planned a trip to climb Mount Fuji! So we need some hiking practice before we go. This weekend, we decided to climb Mount Rokko in Kobe. We took our new buddy Finn along with us, and prepared to do some strenuous exercise!
It was a beautiful hike, and it was great to be surrounded by nature. But it was genuinely really difficult. We maintained a fast pace (unluckily for me, my hiking companions were an ex-athlete and a 6'2 guy... so I had to keep moving pretty fast) but the whole climb still took us about 4 and a half hours with no breaks.

Looking slightly sweatier an hour or so later, overlooking Osaka bay.

We brought a lot of bottles of water with us... but summer's kicking off here and it wasn't quite enough. It was 30 degrees at ground level, and all 2 of us felt pretty dehydrated about 3 hours in. We also had no food with us, and were relying on a rest stop to be open... but when we arrived it was closed! Luckily for us, we bumped into some Japanese obesans who helped us out! I told them in Japanese that we hadn't eaten, and they all proceeded to dig into their rucksacks to give us food and sweets! So sweet!

So much green and beauty.
We made it to the top, exhausted. And then we had another hour and a half to get back down!

Joking! We were super happy!!

After heading down, we arrived to Arima - an onsen town. We took a dip in the onsen, had a few drinks and headed home. Such a perfect day with great company. Bring on Fuji-san!
