Fushimi Inari

If you've seen Memoires of a Geisha you may recognise this place... There is a scene where the young girl is running through hundreds of red tori gates, and it is a fairly popular tourist spot in Kyoto. Fushimi Inari Taisha Temple. It is a beautiful, peaceful place.

The first big gate at the temple grounds! It is now summer in Japan and it is pretty difficult.. So hot and humid, completely unlike anything we have in England. It's been about 30 degrees every day and humid beyond belief... But, we still have to get out and enjoy Japan!

The temple complex is located on a small mountain, and the never ending tori are a nice backdrop to a 2 or 3 hour walk.

People can donate them (buy them) - so you can add one to the collection if you so wish!

At least when you are up a mountain in the shade it is nice and cool... The city is not like that at all!

Short post, but beautiful pictures that I wanted to share! We spent the evening with our amazing friend Yuji. He's a lot older than us, but it really doesn't matter - he's the nicest man we've met. He knows lots of cool, traditional places in Gion, so we've been lucky enough to visit some incredible places in Gion and get a real Japanese experience!
