A Weekend in Tokyo

We recently spent another weekend in Tokyo - for a reason you know but I don't want to post on the internet! It's great to be in the huge city, walk around and see a variety of things...

Like a man with a pram full of cats!

We visited the Meiji Shrine - which I'm surprised we have not done earlier. It is located in huge leafy grounds in the centre of the city. It's a great way to get away from the craziness of Harajuku and relax.

Offerings of Sake ^ and wine v, to show both traditional Japan and it's Westernisation.

People leave prayers in the shrine and I particularly liked this English one we saw. Very moving - I hope that person does find someone!

A great oasis in the middle of the city.

We also visited a maid cafe for the first time! I was so embarrassed and thought it would be really weird, but, it was actually quite nice. The waitresses/maids were really sweet and friendly, we could practice our Japanese with them and the food and drinks were adorable! You can order a coffee that comes with a picture on top - you choose the character and they draw it in syrup in front of you. I chose Pikachu and Jonny chose Doraemon. And we ordered a bunny cake... so cute. Other pictures were not allowed.

It was a nice experience and not dodgy and all. I'm glad we went. There were some really geeky men there who obviously loved talking to the women, but it's not that different to our jobs really. Sometimes students come because they have nothing to do and no one else to talk to...
Japan, the place where you can pay to do anything!
