Himeji Castle

We finally made it to Himeji Castle. And it is maybe my favourite... Since we arrived in Japan, Himeji Castle has been under reconstruction. It was hidden by covers and we were unable to see it. But now, the external reconstructions have finished! Yay!

Dreaming that I'm a princess and can call this white castle my home...

We were unable to go inside the main castle building, but the complex is really big. We walked around and were able to visit different quarters of the castle grounds - particularly the rooms where the princess used to get ready. It was a really enjoyable day.

As we were leaving the weather took a turn for the worse, letting us take this fairly ominous looking picture of the castle.

Afterwards, we visited the neighbouring garden: Ko-koen. It was a fantastic, small, Japanese garden.

My ideal house and garden...

We headed back to the station admiring the view of old and new Japan combined.
