Miyajima

On another cloudy, humid summer day, we visited Miyajima. Easily accessible from Hiroshima, Miyajima is a small island famous for the red shrine in the water! There were also a few deer...

When you jump off the ferry, there are so many deer all over the place! And, unlike in Nara park, they actually still have their beautiful antlers.

When we arrived there was a low tide. This meant the shrine was not in the water. It was definitely less attractive, but it meant we could get really close and even touch it. Jonny even through a coin on for good luck.

We wanted to see it still surrounded by water, so we walked off and had a little explore of the island. And, it was pretty attractive!

We took off our shoes and cooled off in the stream for a while.

And found this adorable baby!!

Clearly they weren't interested in me....

We waited and... water!

It was quite beautiful - definitely worth a trip. It's worth checking out the time of the low/high tides though.
As we were leaving we saw these hungry chaps..
